Settings
The cog at the far right of the bar opens a small pane below it: who you’re signed in as, and which headset the dialer is using.
The cog only appears when you’re IDLE or PAUSED — or when your phone line is reconnecting or has failed, because that’s exactly when you need the device pickers. You can’t change your microphone in the middle of a conversation, and that’s the point.
Your account
Section titled “Your account”The top of the pane shows your name, and under it your role and the account you belong to.
Log out signs you out of the dialer. The bar stays where it is, in its LOGGED OUT state, ready for the next sign-in — see Dialer.
Microphone and Speaker
Section titled “Microphone and Speaker”Two lists, each collapsed to whatever you’re using now. Click one to expand it and pick a different device; it collapses again as soon as you choose.
System Default is what you’re on if you’ve never chosen, and it’s usually the right answer — it follows whatever your computer is set to, so plugging a headset in switches the dialer with it. Whatever you’re using now sits at the top of the expanded list, with the rest below it.
Changes take effect immediately. There’s no Save, no reconnect, and no need to leave the campaign.
Mic processing
Section titled “Mic processing”Three switches, all on unless you turn them off:
| Switch | What it does |
|---|---|
| Echo cancellation | Stops the caller hearing themselves back through your speakers |
| Noise suppression | Filters steady background noise — fans, air conditioning, a busy room |
| Auto gain control | Evens out your volume as you move nearer to and further from the mic |
Leave all three on unless someone tells you your audio sounds wrong. Turning them off is a last resort for an unusual headset, not a quality setting.
Like the device pickers, these apply to your live phone line the moment you flick them.
Microphone permission
Section titled “Microphone permission”Your browser has to let the dialer use your microphone. Until it does, your devices show up as Microphone 1, Microphone 2 and so on instead of their real names, and a button appears: Allow microphone to show device names. Click it and allow the microphone when your browser asks.
If that doesn’t work, the pane tells you why:
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| Microphone blocked — allow it for this site from your browser’s address bar, then try again. | The block is set at the browser level, not in the dialer. Use the padlock icon in the address bar to allow the microphone for this site |
| No microphone found — plug one in, then try again. | Plug your headset in, then click the button again |
| Could not open the microphone. Close any other app using it and try again. | Something else has hold of it — usually a video call. Close it and retry |
