Calling a contact yourself
Not every call comes from a campaign. When you want to ring one particular person, you do it from that person’s record in GoHighLevel — the dialer adds a call button to GoHighLevel’s own screens.
From an open conversation or contact
Section titled “From an open conversation or contact”Open a contact in GoHighLevel and look at the action icons at the top, beside GoHighLevel’s own phone icon. The dialer adds one more, in blue, carrying the Helix mark. Hover it and it says Call with Helix Dialer.
Click it and the dialer bar opens (if it wasn’t already) and rings that contact’s number. From there it behaves exactly like a campaign call: the pill goes RINGING and then ON CALL, you get the connect beep, and when the call ends you’re in wrap-up with an outcome to pick.
You don’t have to be in a campaign to do this, and you don’t have to be Ready — a manual call works from IDLE.
From a contact list
Section titled “From a contact list”On a GoHighLevel contacts or smart-list screen, hover any row. The same blue Call with Helix Dialer button appears at the right-hand end of that row’s phone column. One click dials that row.
The button is only on rows that show a phone number. A row with an empty phone cell doesn’t get one.
When a number can’t be dialed
Section titled “When a number can’t be dialed”Some numbers on screen aren’t numbers the dialer will place a call to — an extension wedged into the middle of the digits, or a fragment that’s too short to be a real number.
Those rows keep their button, so you’re never left wondering why one row has one and the next doesn’t. Instead the button tells you: on a list row, hovering says This number can’t be dialed, and on either surface clicking briefly replaces the icon with Unusable number.
Fix the number on the contact in GoHighLevel and the button starts working.
If the call doesn’t go out
Section titled “If the call doesn’t go out”A refused or failed call shows a red Could not connect strip under the bar with a one-line reason. Click it to dismiss, or leave it — it clears itself after a few seconds. Every reason and what to do about it is on Troubleshooting.
The one you’ll hit most often is Sign in to the dialer in this tab to place calls. — the button works on any GoHighLevel tab, including one where you’ve never opened the dialer.
Why there’s no keypad on the bar
Section titled “Why there’s no keypad on the bar”There is deliberately no dial pad in the dialer bar, and typing a number from scratch isn’t something the product supports.
A call typed out of thin air has no contact behind it — nothing to open on screen while you talk, nothing for your wrap-up outcome to tag, and a line in the call log that belongs to nobody. Starting every manual call from a contact means the whole chain works: the record opens as you connect, and the outcome you pick lands back on that contact in GoHighLevel.
If the person you want to call isn’t in GoHighLevel yet, add them there first, then use the button on their record.
